Troy's White Coat Ceremony

Troy's White Coat Ceremony was held in the Quaker Church in Philadelphia at 2 p.m. on April 4, 2009. His new title is Student Dr. As usual, I took LOTS of pictures and made a movie, here it is - hope you enjoy it!

Trip to Philadelphia

I arrived in Philadelphia about 10:30 pm last night. Troy picked me up and we got to the house about midnight. Landon was fast asleep! This morning he came down the stairs to my room and got me up. We had breakfast together with mommy - daddy had already taken off for school. Jen is going to watch Landon while we go to Troy's White Coat Ceremony. Before we left Landon decided to wear his toy box!

This week I was on spring break so I flew out to CA to help Andrea with her move. She had most of the packing done, all that was left was to close out the kitchen and kid's rooms. We spent most of the first part of the week doing just that and Wednesday we planned to pick up the key for the new house. She had permission to move over boxes, Jacob, Jared and their friend, Steve, agreed to help on Wednesday evening. We had organized Kristen's truck so we were ready to go - or so we thought. I started the day defrosting the freezer while Andrea went to Wal Mart with the boys to pick up some items. We were scheduled to pick up the key about 1:30. All went smoothly until about 9:45. I called Andrea's cell to ask her to pick up some items and Keith answered, this was confusing since I knew that I had dialed Andrea's phone. He explained that she was in the ambulence on her way to the hospital! The rest of the story is on the video. What a ride!

Surprise

What A Surprise!
Elder Malloy is still here. Elder Higgins was transferred! What a surprise. Elder Malloy has been on his mission for 4 months now and he has just been assigned a greenie! Elder Olson is from Murray, Utah. I told him that we lived in Murray when Don was an infant. He got off the plane and began tracting with trainers in Colorado Springs. That's how the do it here. Anyway, Elder Malloy brought him back to the house and they set out tracting again. We got home from the Temple about 9:00 and visited with him for awhile. They were both wiped out!

This month is Aliza's fifth birthday! My goodness where did the time go? She is such a bubbly little girl. I just love talking to her on the phone and finding out all the important things going on in her life. She enjoys her Polly Pockets and loves to play with her friends. Happy Birthday Miss Aliza!

Parody

This week students took the state test. They were totally burnt out by Friday so I decided to have some fun. I played a few Weird Al songs and we discussed the techniques he used in his parody of each. Then I set the kids loose to choose a song and create a parody of their own. the rules were that it could not use the same lyrics as the original, must be school appropriate, contain either a pun, metaphor, character, or sketch of an experience - as Weird Al's did. They will perform them next week. As you can see they had a great time working on them.

Elder Malloy is leaving - so sad!

Elder Malloy, on the left, is being transferred. I have really enjoyed getting to know him. He has found 8 people to teach during the past few months and has been wonderful to have in our home. His legacy for us will be "Can we do anything before we leave?" He has made this a tradition as he prepares to go out. Sometimes I take him up on his offer and he is always willing to go the second mile! Elder Higgins will stay and will probably have a newer elder with him. I look forward to having him stay, he has a great sense of humor!
